BIRDIE TOLD ME

Birdie Told Me is an Illinois-bred mare. She’s by graded stakes winner Eavesdropper, by Kingmambo and a half-brother to former leading sire AP Indy. She’s out of $156,635 stakes winner Dixie Bird, by Dixieland Brass. The first dam is a half-sister to $557,107 stakes winner Homing Pigeon. This is the immediate family of grade I stakes winning millionaire Western Playboy and $850,141 graded stakes winner Bungalow.

Birdie has foaled several good horses, including stakes winner Raintree Starlet and $150,000 winner Boom Box.  She’s got a big, strong looking two-year-old hopefully racing this year.

In his most recent race, BOD raced up close early but backed out around the turn. He really didn’t try very hard in this one and we’ll consider retiring him at this point as he’s really fallen off form.

Since his last race, BOD has been retired from racing and placed in a good home.

Blue Mocha ran an encouraging fifth in her career debut, rushing up to make the lead in the opening furlong, battling around the turn and tiring late in her first try at Turf Paradise. She should improve in her second start.

Unfortunately, Blue Mocha suffered an ankle injury and will require several months out of training.

Charmingside is a Texas-bred two-year-old filly by Stonesider out of a Silver Charm mare. Stonesider, a son of Giant’s Causeway, won his only race and has produced some good runners as a sire. The filly is out of mare that has produced winners of over $300,000. She’s in Danny Pish’s barn.

Charming was an improved third in her last start, rallying around the turn and down the lane to be beaten just two lengths at the wire.

Cocoa was fourth in her most recent race on closing day at Emerald, rallying in deep stretch but too little too late.

FWE was outrun in his first start off the claim for us at Golden Gate while stepping up in class, trying turf and stretching out. He should go better next time with a more familiar setting.

Global was retired after his last race. He had a lot of ability in his career, but was unlucky in not finding turf races suffering heat stroke and flipping at the gate over the years.

This LA-bred two-year-old filly is by $3m Breeder’s Cup Dirt Mile winner Goldencents and out of a stakes-winning mare. Goldencents was the country’s top third-crop sire last year and already has two millionaires to his credit. The filly is in the barn of trainer Justin Jeansonne.

GA set the early pace and then tired in mistretch in her first route try at Louisiana Downs last time out.

Halfglamorous

This filly is by Half Ours, arguably the best sire in Louisiana.  She’s the first foal out of our multiple stakes-placed mare of over $200,000.  She’s in the barn of Justin Jeansonne.

Halfglam was last in her final race at Fair Grounds and has been retired. Her heart just wasn’t in it any longer. She won an Allowance race for us at the peak of her career. She should make a nice broodmare for someone.

HARBOR SKY

Harbor Sky is a California-bred son of Majestic Harbor out of stakes-placed Sky Mesa mare. The gelding is now in the barn of trainer Ed Moger on the southern California circuit.

Harbor Sky was fifth, beaten about four lengths in his most recent race at Golden Gate and claimed away from us.

HARD BUT SMART (cal-based)

Hard But Smart has one of the stronger pedigrees in the stable. She’s by Hard Spun out of a Smart Strike mare. Hard Spun was a grade I winning multi-millionaire on the track. At stud, he’s sired five grade I winners and earners over $117m. The filly is out of an Aqueduct Maiden Special winning Smart Strike mare. The second dam is a $190k stakes placed daughter of Bernardini. The third dam produced five stakes horses, including Florida Derby winner and sire Vicar. She’s in the Jeff Metz barn on the SoCal racing circuit.

Hard But Smart didn’t live up to high expectations on the race track and was sold as a broodmare prospect.

HUSH HUSH

Hush Hush is a homebred Kentucky-bred daughter of Straight Line out of our Eavesdropper mare. She’s in the barn of trainer Brian Williamson on the Kentucky circuit.

In her first race off the layoff, Hush was fifth in a dull effort at Turfway Park, showing no early speed and not enough down the lane to threaten.

JAZZY LOVE

Jazzy was fourth as the odds-on favorite in her last race at Emerald, her first start off the claim for us. Unfortunately, she got claimed away from us, as well.

This well-balanced colt is by the classic winner of $3m Shackleford, now a quality sire in Kentucky and standing for $20,000.  The colt is out of an Allowance winning Two Punch mare of $161,220 who has already produced two good runners.  He’s in the barn of Kate Demasi on the Pennsylvania circuit. 

Knockout battled for the early lead, fought with the leader into the stretch and tired down the lane to be last of five at Penn National.

Lampy is an Arizona-bred by Lotsa Mischief out of a Tiznow mare. Lotsa Mischief was a modest stakes-winning son of Into Mischief that has done well at stud with limited opportunity. The dam was a hard-knocking southern California mare. Lampy is a full-brother to young, multiple stakes winner of $105k Brazen Now.

Lampy broke a step slow and wasn’t able to do enough to catch up in another los Alamitos sprint, finishing fourth as the beaten favorite and was claimed away.

LIFE’S EMOTION

MEAN SHARON

Mean Sharon is a Washington-bred filly by grade I millionaire and quality sire Haynsefield. She’s out of a $122k stakes winning Harbor the Gold mare. The speedy filly is in the barn of Jeff Metz.

Sharon hopped at the start to get away slowly and wasn’t able to make up the difference in her start for us at Emerald, finishing fifth. She was claimed away.

mISSED CALL

Missed Call is a gelded son of Dialed In out of an Officer mare. He’s got good tactical speed and has produced similar speed figures going short over dirt and turf surfaces. He’s in the southern California barn of Jeff Metz.

In his most recent start, Missed Call came flying late to get up for second at Los Alamitos and was unexpectedly claimed away from us.

MISSJEANLOUISE

Missjeanlouise is a broodmare that will foal out in Washington next year. On the race track, the talented filly was a multiple stakes winner earning over $365,000. She’s by Horse of the Year Victory Gallop, a sire of four Champions and 76 stakes-winners with career progeny earnings of nearly $50m.

Louise foaled a big Stay Thirsty baby in April, California’s top sire. She’s now in foal to Raging Tiger.

MISTLETOE MISS

This white-faced filly is by promising young sire Giant Oak, a grade I millionaire son of Giant’s Causeway, out of our Eavesdropper mare Birdie Told Me.  This Illinois-bred filly is in the barn of trainer Brian Williamson.

Mistletoe slipped her Mo Town foal more than half-way through her pregnancy and her 2023 breeding status is undetermined at this time.

MONGOLIAN MEMORY

Mongolian Memory is by European Champion and top quality sire Noble Mission out of an Eavesdropper mare. Noble Mission is a full-brother to legendary race horse and sire Frankel. Noble Mission has many graded stakes winners in his young career, including Code of Honor. Mongolian, winner of the Startac stakes as a 3 YO, is in the barn of Scott Tubbs.

Mongolian was 6th, beaten two lengths, against tough Starter Allowance company at Turf Paradise last time out, closing ground but unable to improve position late.

Ms. Lilibet is one of the best pedigrees we’ve been able to offer at HRC. She’s by Noble Mission, who was a Eur0pean Champion on the race track and a full-brother to Frankel, one of the best race horses and sires of our generation. Noble Mission has sired such stars as Code of Honor, winner of the Travers and nearly $3m so far. The filly is out of a $281k stakes-winning English Channel mare, who is out of a graded stakes-winner herself. She’s in the barn of Brian Williamson.

In her most recent start, Ms Lili was a close second, losing a head-bob finish after dueling down the stretch in a very good effort at Fair Grounds.

Tragically, Ms Lili suffered a back leg fracture in a training accident and was put down.

zoelithic (cal-based 2 YO)

This filly is by $2.3m earner Neolithic out of a Street Cry mare. This is from the family of grade I winner La Gueriere. The filly zipped a furlong in :10 1/5 at the OBS sale. She’s in the barn of Jeff Metz in southern California.

The quick filly will be at the farm recovering from the hard training in preparation for the OBS sale.

NEW EAGLE

(California and Arizona-BASED)

New Eagle is a stretch running son of Street Boss. Now in the barn of Jeff Metz, he’s on the southern California circuit and Turf Paradise. The veteran has been consistent throughout his career and is in good form.

In his most recent start, New Eagle finished third as the beaten favorite, rallying but unable to do enough and missing by 1 1/2 lengths.

Oh Baby Oh Baby is a Louisiana-bred daughter of Orientate out of a Forty Niner mare.  She was a modest $12,500 claim and went on to win a couple stakes for us before we retired her for our breeding program.

OBOB’s first foal was a modest runner. Her second foal is a California Chrome 3YO unraced filly we sold as a yearling. Thirsty Baby, by Stay Thirsty, is her 2 YO and he’ll return to training later this summer. She foaled a Mr Big filly this season and is in foal now to Smiling Tiger.

PARAMOUR

Paramour is a two-year-old filly by Country Day, a $503k stakes winner best known for running second in a Breeder’s Cup Turf Sprint. He was Louisiana’s 8th leading sire last year. The filly is the first foal out of a winning Dialed In mare. Dialed In was the country’s 20th leading sire last year. The second dam is a winning Woodman mare who produced a $197k stakes winner.

In her last race, Paramour stalked recovered from a bobble at the break, moved into contention around the turn and just missed second to finish third at Fair Grounds. Unfortunately, Paramour exited her race with an injury and we’re contemplating her racing future.

pURPLE NIGHT

Purple Night is a California-bred daughter of grade I stakes winner and quality sire Competitive Edge out of a nice Slewdledo mare with a solid Washington stakes family. She’s in the barn of Jeff Metz.

We’re excited to offer this flashy Cal-bred three-year-old filly. She’s by grade I millionaire and grade I sire Smiling Tiger. His yearlings averaged over $20,000 at sale last year.

The filly is out of an Allowance winning Malibu Moon mare who has a strong enough family to have been a $300,000 yearling herself. The bottom side of the filly’s pedigree is loaded with graded stakes horses like How About Now, Lovely Lil, Abraaj and Maftool.

Smiling set the early pace and led the field into the stretch before tiring in her last race, finishing fifth at Santa Rosa.

This LA-bred yearling filly is by Star Guitar, four-time LA Champion and how a three-time LA Champion sire. The filly is out of our $201k stakes-placed mare Glamoride. Her first foal is an Allowance over over $90,000 as a three-year-old. This is the second foal out of the dam, who foaled a Bernardini colt this season.

She’ll be in the barn of Danny Pish when she’s ready for racing next year.

Our first foal of the year, this Texas-bred filly is by young sire Stonesider, by Giants Causeway, out of our productive Silver Charm mare.  She’ll likely go to Danny Pish when she’s ready for racing. 

STOP THE MADNESS

RACE RECORD:   7 STARTS  7-0-1  $8,940

The filly is by Collected, who was a $2.9m grade I stakes-winner and runner-up in the Breeder’s Cup Classic.  He stands for $15,000 in Kentucky and we look forward to seeing his first foals race.  The filly is out of an unraced Tiznow mare.  Tiznow was Horse of the Year and a $6m winner at the races.  He’s been a top quality sire with over 80 stakes winners and earners of more than $93m.   

This is the mare’s first foal and she’s from a high-end family.  The dam is a half-sister to graded stakes-winner of $871k Unzip Me and two other winners of $150k+.  The third dam in this family is $905k graded stakes winner Soviet Problem, who was second against the boys in a Breeder’s Cup Sprint in her heyday, missing by a head to Cherokee Run. 

STM broke her maiden last time out at Evangeline, rallying off the pace and drawing clear in the final 100 yards.

Summer Lover broke his maiden in his last start and was claimed away from us, surprisingly, at Fair Grounds.

Tam Tricky is a Cal-bred filly by graded stakes winner Tamaradno out of a Lit de Justice mare from a productive family. The ultra-consistent filly with good, tactical speed is in the barn of trainer Jeff Metz.

In her first start off the claim for us, Tam sat just off the pace, made an outside bid on the turn for home and hung down the lane to be fifth.

TERRANOVA

She’s a Verrazano filly out of a stakes-winning mare from a star-studded family. Brian Williamson trains the filly for us on the greater Kentucky circuit.

Verrazano was a grade I winner of $1.8m on the track. As a sire, he ranked in the top 10 in his first three US crops before being sold for breeding in Brazil. She’s out of a $384k stakes-winner. The second dam was a graded stakes placed stakes winner of $251k.

Terranova lunged at the break in her last start, blowing the start and trailing early. She was able to pass a few fillies down the lane to be fifth in a Horseshoe Indy Allowance sprint.

This Cal-bred colt is by Stay Thirsty out of a stakes-winning Orientate mare. Stay Thirsty was a grade I winner of $1.9m on the race track. The colt is out of our $254k stakes winning mare Oh Baby Oh Baby, by Orientate.

Cupid was a grade I winning millionaire son of Tapit on the race track and has made quite a splash as a young sire, finishing fifth on the first crop sire standings and ranking fifth on the second crop list this year. The Distorted Humor mare has produced winners of over $600,000.

In his last start, Wholeheartedly looked good around the turn and into the stretch, but his rally stalled and he finished a well-beaten fifth at Fair Grounds.

Winning Time ran second in a tough Allowance Optional sprint at Parx, leading the field into the stretch and just not able to stick with the winner down the lane.

Zoe is a three-year-old daughter of Neolithic out of a Street Cry mare. She’s in the Jeff Metz barn in southern California.

The filly has had a few, minor juvenile setbacks since breezing fast at the Fasig Tipton sale. She’s had a few minor setbacks and is at the farm healing up and has been retired from racing.
